Odo Strewe. Arrived in New Zealand at the time of WWII, and was interned on Soame’s Island before becoming a huge influence on the countries modernist cultural awakening. Landscape architect with connections to ‘the Group’ in Auckland, Natusch in Hawkes Bay – as well as influential articles in ‘Home & Building’ magazine and Palmer’s Garden book.

Also a colourful character in Auckland’s cultural history, associated with literary scene of the time- Fairburn, Lowery, Innes, Sargeson, Robb, Duggan, etc…
